The Regal Crown Ghost Portrait

A dimensional ghost emerges from layers of heavily textured ivory and aged white, its intentionally imperfect form giving the piece the character of an old painting discovered after years tucked away in an estate. Perched above its simple black eyes is an ornate crown embellished with sparkling crystals and warm antique-gold detailing—an unexpected touch of grandeur against the ghost’s wonderfully primitive silhouette.

The background is richly layered in warm parchment, antique gold, charcoal, and smoky black, with visible texture, distressing, and hand-worked markings throughout. An arched architectural silhouette gives the piece even more presence, making it feel somewhere between an antique European portrait, architectural fragment, and playful piece of Halloween folk art.

Rather than being overtly spooky, this little ghost has personality. The jeweled crown adds just enough glamour and eccentricity to make the piece unmistakably Michelle Butler.

The artwork features a hand-sculpted dimensional ghost with heavily layered texture, hand-painted and distressed finishes, an embellished dimensional crown, crystal and jewelry detailing, and a warm neutral palette of aged ivory, antique gold, charcoal, and black.

Every surface has been intentionally worked to create age and depth. Cracks, raised texture, irregular edges, visible brushwork, tonal variation, and areas of distressing are part of the artwork and contribute to its old-world character.
